Category: Saturday Night Racing

With all the local guns lining up in MOD last night it was only a matter to time before we saw weather they were up to the challenge set by Simon.

If you weren’t there you missed all the action. Gas Tourer racer Jason Dorm swapped his car for an electric with what I heard was a low 4 turn motor. He gave it all he had but ………

Well what a night. With a change of catering for the night, still great food, and the winter weather starting to roll in, everyone was having fun.

We had 2 heats of Stock and 540 with a heat of Mod and F1.

540 saw Brad Hall take TQ with Steven Keulemans and Dave Guyatt not far behind. The final was a battle and a half with many of the racers coming into contact with each other throughout the race but it was Brad who hung on to take the race with Dave coming in second after making a costly mistake towards the end to show us the underside of his new MI4LP(I think) and Steven taking 3rd

Stock saw young Chris Sturdy take TQ from Bob and Martin. The final saw Chris take the win from Paul in second and Bob coming home 3rd.

Mod was the class to watch once again with Simon taking TQ but hot on his heals and sometimes in front of him was Clinton. The final was a blast to watch as Simon show his skill to run in a consistancy of 0.12 for the race with lap times between 19,410 and 19.816 with Clinton coming home in 2nd and 3rd went to Leonard.

F1 was a little light on but the 3 drivers were not holding back. The Rat aka Shane Hyde show dominance all night to take wins in all the racers and TQ. He later went on to thank all those other F1 drivers for not racing allowing him to take the win. Congrates Shane.

Overall another great night with everyone having a wonderful night. See you all next time.

P.S – Results have been uploaded

Yes well talk of people running 540 this week turned out to be true.

I for one enjoyed the racing that I got to have as well as many others. Louis, B1 and B2, Heavy and a few others all where fighting for the top spots. With a lot moving down to 540 this left Stock a little low in numbers but still some of the best racing was seen in this class with young gun Jordan taking TQ. MOD saw a nice field including Simon Nicholson who wasn’t pushed much all night.

The MOD final saw Clinton doing some quick laps to be only tens of a second slower but Simon showed consistancy is what is needed to win and that he did.

Results are uploaded onto the results page.

Well the first round of the F1 season has be a great success being run before and along-side the normal Saturday night racing.
Check the results page for results or check out the F1 Post.

Yes that’s right more racing this Saturday, 20.03.10

If the weather will be kind to us we’ll be running a club race night this Saturday to try & make up for missing recent rounds.

The Off-Road guys are busy completing their track rebuild & will have a lot of machinery moving about so make sure you leave room please & don’t get in their way.

We won’t be starting practice till approx 4.30pm & racing will be from 6.00pm as usual.

Hope to see you all there.

Yes guys racing tonight if the rain stays away. A little house keeping this morning with ground maintenance which should reduce the height of the grass about the track.

Also guys this years memberships are due. Good chance the help the club and invest in our future. Forms can be found on the right hand side.

So see you all down there later today – hopefully this rain will clear and we can get some action happening on the track.

Mid week Madness results are now up on our results page and so to are Saturday nights.

Saturday night saw 39 entries where we ran 2 heats of stock and 2 heats of 540.

With the testing of 21.5 brushless continuing young Heavy from Action R/C claimed a clean sweep to TQ top of the field. Fastest lap times were about 1 second better then the 540 silver cans. Stock saw a battle between Clinton and Chris. F1 and Martin wasn’t challenged all night. Mod saw some great close racing between Corey and Leonard.

Yes this is going to be the HOT class of 2010. This class is run every fortnight Wednesday (Wednesday before our Saturday night racing) where racing gets underway around 7PM. 2 heats and a final so it is a nice easy night. We also run the F1’s every 3rd Saturday night. Check the calender for more details on our next race met.

At present we are running a variety of motors which include -

  • 540 – Gray can
  • Brushed Stock Motor – 27 turn
  • Brushless Stock motor – 17.5 turn
  • Brushless 540 motor – 21.5 turn

Depending on the track surface and grip will determine which motor will be best for the day. A little traction control additive on the rear tires and your ready to hit the track.

More information see Action R/C’s F1 page or for the current rules click 2010 FORCDA Rules.
